Governing with Integrity
“We have historic problems - it’s not the time for leaders who believe that government cannot help create the solutions”
• Assure that real estate tax assessments accurately reflect today’s home values and -
• Consistently PROVIDE FAIR REAL ESTATE ASSESSMENTS
• Demand Accountability and transparency in government
• Ask our township officials to make the same sacrifice our township residents are making
• Support campaign finance reform - propose a limit on all contributions
Assuming Fiscal Responsibility
“The township government faces the responsibility to make sure that limited resources are applied effectively to address priorities”
• Review every township program to ensure community value and operational efficiency
• Rollback to 2008 salaries, -salaries are already the highest in Lake County, raises are unnecessary
• Make township expenditures publicly accessible - currently there is no transparency on township fund expenditures
• Our economy faces big problems – we need a change of direction from the expanding and bloated township policies
Community Involvement
“We are all responsible for creating new solutions to our problems, not creating new problems”
• Foster Community – “We’re all in this together”
• Promote community service programs
• Match youth services to senior needs
• Provide high school and college students with college aid / credit for community service
• Connect students, business & seniors together to solve problems
• Expand youth activities available
• Allow our expanding senior population to contribute productively
• Use technology to connect “online” community to offline
• Expand programs for the Disabled and citizens in need
Local Economic Development
“Build a 21st century infrastructure to support a developing, sustainable, local economy”
• Support improving transportation network
• Incentives for businesses focusing on local economy - and hiring local employees
• Maintain local job bank and employment services
Quality of Life
“Everyone - whether blessed by success or feeling threatened by this economy - must share the responsibility to make sure that no child, no parent, and no senior is left behind in this difficult time”
• Expand General Assistance programs - General assistance is only 1/2 Supervisor’s annual salary
• Make sure that no citizen in VT goes hungry or homeless
• Provide assistance aimed at keeping people in their homes, prevent foreclosures • Ensure access to health care / services
• Expand grants to support job training, temporary employment, interim aid to education, public/private transportation alternatives, etc.
